Links to Election Day/Night Results

Please see our November 3, 2020 General Election results links below:

Results will be viewable via these links after 8:00 p.m. tonight. The first posting is targeted for 8:30 p.m. and will consist entirely of VBM ballots. The next posting of results is being targeted for 9:00 p.m. and will consist of the same VBM ballots plus the first vote center/in person ballots from the early voting period. After that, we will be posting results of election day vote center/in person ballots throughout the night and into the early morning hours. We may see approximately 18 postings of results or so and are targeting 5:00 a.m. to be completed with the election night run.

Late in the day on Wednesday, the PDF version of the semi-final Statement of Votes Cast (SVC) will be available here: https://www.lavote.net/home/voting-elections/current-elections/election-results/past-election-results

Please keep in mind that we publish a semi-final version at E+1 and a final version no later than E+27. Also, the Excel version of the semi-final SVC will be available late in the day on Thursday. Lastly, for cities that have requested their results in both an at-large and by-council district format, please let me know. Those are not online and I have to provide them upon request.

Tally Updates During Canvass

With such good voter turnout, please remember our post-election ballot counting/tally update schedule below:

  • Update 1 – Wed, 11/4
  • Update 2 – Thu, 11/5
  • Update 3 – Fri, 11/6
  • Update 4 – Tue, 11/10
  • Update 5 – Fri, 11/13
  • Update 6 – Tue, 11/17
  • Update 7 – Fri, 11/20
  • Update 8 – Tue, 11/24
  • Update 9 – Fri, 11/27
  • Update 10 – Mon, 11/30

This schedule is subject to change. Updates 1, 2, 9 and 10 are expected to have smaller quantities of ballots than all the other updates. As of now, RRCC staff will be working on Veterans Day (10/11) and the 4 day Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Please keep in mind that all updates during the month-long canvass are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. after which we post results online. Also, please remember that the targeted date of certification of official results is Monday, 11/30. Earlier in the year, the date of certification was targeted for Friday, 11/27. However, it was postponed 3 days several months ago to 11/30 to allow for more time to process the last of the ballots. Based on the fact that we will be certifying the election on the afternoon of 11/30, our office will start to provide cities with their certification documentation late in the day on 11/30 and continue through Tuesday, 12/1. Please plan your certification tasks accordingly. I would recommend that any election certification item for your City Council meetings be agendized the following week (week of 12/7) to ensure that you receive documents from us timely. Lastly, cities do not have to wait for our Board of Supervisors to “declare the election concluded” which it is scheduled to do on Tue, 12/8. The date when our Registrar certifies the election (11/30) is the legal operative date that then allows cities to move forward with agenda items, certifications to City Council, swearing in/installation events, potential filings for recounts, etc.
