Cancellation of 4th of July Festivities

The Friends of the 4th of July Committee and the City regret to announce the cancellation of this year’s 4th of July activities. This decision is being made due to the ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City and the Committee have been monitoring the County and State orders and based on the anticipated timelines, physical distancing and restrictions on large gatherings will continue through summer. Many local agencies in the area, as well as others in the State and Country, have taken similar action based on this information.

While this decision was not an easy one to make, the Committee along with the City, made this decision based on the safety and health of the volunteers, staff, and attendees. The safety of the community is the top priority and at the forefront of all the decisions that are being made during this unprecedented time. We look forward to bringing the community back together next year in 2021 for all of the City’s cherished 4th of July events.

In the coming weeks the City will be recommending some non-traditional ways we will be able to celebrate the 4th of the July in our community this year. Please keep an eye out on the City of La Verne Website, as well as the City of La Verne Facebook page, for some safe alternatives to help celebrate the 4th of July in La Verne.

The Friends of the 4th of July Committee is a community based volunteer committee that has been responsible for coordinating, hosting, and fundraising the City of La Verne’s 4th of July Celebration for over 40 years.
